Default You wouldn't believe what I ate today ugh

15 Krispy Kreme glazed donuts!

Now before you think I've completely lost my mind, let me explain. I was participating in my first ever bike race, a 35 mile adventure called the Donut Derby. Every 12 miles, there was a break station with free Krispy Kremes. For every donut you eat, 5 minutes are deducted from your time. I did finish in under 3 hours, but my "donut-adjusted" time was under 2 hours, putting me in the top 10 for my age group - WOOHOO!

In a perfect world, I'd be really really fast at cycling and not have to touch those darn donuts, but alas I've only been riding for a year and still pretty slow. So, on a dare from one of my friends who said I couldn't do it, I ate a dozen of them, then 3 more for good measure. Had to get that 75 minute deduction!

Needless to say, this might have been a good thing. It was the 1st time I have gone off diet since March and IT WAS AWFUL! If I never see a donut again, it will be too soon. The worst part is my friend Kristina won a free dozen and brought them in the truck on the way home - the smell almost killed me!

UGH! I swear my cycling clothes and everything I had with me has this vile sugar residue all over the place. EWWWWW.

Maybe all the cycling burned off a lot of the calories at least....hope you don't gain from it!

And congrats on the race!

I'm sure you used up a lot of the crap that you consumed. And this way, donuts really won't sound as tasty in the future! Sounds like a fun race though.

Gah. First congrats on the cycling. I'm trying to wrap my mind around kind of forcing athletes to eat junk food though. The initial glucose rush would help, but then the crash down would suck.
