IMHO I'd argue that statins would be a better choice because statins, including RYR, can cause liver damage and other problems. At least if you're on prescription statins they're regularly checking your liver. On RYR you're rolling the dice. Liver failure can kill you too.
I just saw someone on TV whose husband now has a cryotic liver because he was taking statins and wasn't getting his liver enzymes checked regularly. They're in a panic because they may lose their health care if the ACA act goes away.
Anyway, the point is that RYR also can cause liver damage. So... be careful.
