Thanks for chiming in ladies! Lots to think about.

I think the reasons my sugars and trigs are up are pretty straight forward. I'm insulin resistant and IGT. Eating more carbs than I can handle will give me higher sugars and higher trigs.

Of late, I've been in the bush, clearing bush and rely on others (extended family) for food. I'm also sensitive to the fact that it's a lot of work prepping and making the meals out there.

With regards to protein, I too have noticed that eating too much will cause my sugars to jump. I don't know if I'm just get more efficient at it, more systems needing glucose, or just getting older (I was told I'm 46.)

I've cut back on said protein, but in turn also screwed up my iron levels. I was deferred 8 weeks ago for low levels when trying to donate blood. Argh...

The good news in all this is that electrical should be put in this week (that is, a pole with a fuse box.) That means, I can bring things more compatible foods out there with me.
