This link has the basics of the DANDR but if you don't have a book, my suggestion would be to buy one off of ebay or amazon because in the book you will find lots of tips and advise and also a carb counter in the back of the book that makes it easy to flip through and build your menu based on carb counts in seconds verses spending lots of time searching individual items on line.
One example for me would be looking at the veggie list on the link and the first veggie is Artichoke. Now Artichoke in my DANDR book is 13.4g carbs so a better choice might be for some of the lower carb veggies which in the end will give you more food and more nutrients for your carb counts.
That's what the carb counter is good for.
