PHE warned on Monday that the average child is now consuming three times their recommended allowance of sugar by the end of the day

Don't these two facts together mean that British children are consuming two-and-one-half times their recommended allowance of sugar between the time they get to school and the end of the day??? How much of that excess sugar is in the meals and snacks they are given AT SCHOOL? And how much of it do they get at supper (tea?) after they come home from school?

I'm not suggesting that parents don't need to worry about cutting down the amount of sugar in their children's breakfast. I absolute agree with that. But, even if every parent cut sugar entirely out of their child's breakfast (eg, boiled eggs and bacon breakfasts for British children nationwide!) without other changes throughout the day the kids would still be eating 2.5 times the recommended amount of sugar.

Yes, carb-laden cereal and fruit-juice breakfasts are a good place to start. But let's be honest, those are not the only culprits.
