Delaney, I am glad you survived your heart attack and hopefully without heart damage. You have to do what you feel is best for you and make no excuses to anyone.

I have heart disease and had open heart surgery in 2008. My doctor ordered a stress test at age 50 as a baseline, due to family history, therefore my heart disease was diagnosed without suffering a heart attack. I take a statin by choice, knowing the possible side effects, but also knowing the other benefits of statins besides cholesterol control. Each person must do their research and make their own decision.
