We used to run WebTrends over a year ago, but stopped due to cost, since for our growing traffic we'd need a corporate account for those over 20gigs/month (that won't last us a day). We currently have an Urchin license, and we run it on and off as needed. I prefer to reduce any unnecessary services on the server, to provide better response. It's hard to comment on hits/sessions etc as it depends on which definition and which software is counting them.

We run on Linux, using a dedicated dual server (dual 2.0 Ghz Xeon's, hyper-threaded) with 2Gigs RAM, and dual 72Gigs DA SCSI drives, with 1.2 terabytes of bandwidth/month. Obviously, we're using LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP)
