Well, you want to be careful because if you have Graves you could go into a thyroid storm and they're fatal about 50% of the time. And like you've said, being hyperthyroid is just miserable.

But the good news is, Graves goes into remission very often so if you can find a good treatment and ride it out you might go into remission. I was rushed into radioactive iodine therapy, which kills the thyroid, and I really regret that now.

Another thing you might try is eating lots and lots of vegetables and foods that are goitrogens (keep the thyroid from producing so much hormone). They're brassicas like cabbage, turnip, brussel sprouts, soy, floride (hopefully your water is floridated). Try to eat them raw because they get destroyed when cooked (the goitrogens in veggies).
