The official results came in. My time: 1 hour, 9 minutes and 37 seconds. That's closer to what I clocked in 2016 than it was last year's time. I could be disappointed with that, but after analyzing the overall stats of the race it appears that everybody was slower. Kel finished 3 minutes slower than last year (1 hour 18 minutes). A guy from work who finished in 52 minutes last year only managed to do the 10K one minute faster than I did this year. He blamed the heat, too. So rather than be disappointed, I'll just be pleased that I put in my best effort. Plus, when looking at the results in other ways I actually did make progress...
Overall Finish Placement
2016: 12003
2017: 9328
2018: 8795
Overall percentile that finished ahead of me
2016: 52 %
2017: 42 %
2018: 41 %
Age group/gender percentile that finished ahead of me
2016: 66 %
2017: 57 %
2018: 53 %
So while my finish time was slower this year, I still managed to show improvement in other areas. Yeah, the heat took its toll. But I'm a cup half full kind of guy. Next year I will move up to the next age group. I plan on kicking some old man butt.
KETO MAN was still representing the cause this year. Planting seeds.
The trio of 10K finishers
It was a good race. I am a bit puzzled, though. How old do I have to get before these kids outpace this old dude?
