The beauty and the frustration of changing the way we eat is that the things we used to eat don't disappear from the face of the earth, we just change our relationship to them.

We had cookies in the house for the 2+ month that Daughter and her family were here. Her husband eats them for breakfast with his espresso; it's an Italian thing.

I just had to concentrate on how delicious whatever I was eating was. And get my SIL to understand that it was NOT rude to avoid offering me something he was eating. It was more rude to keep offering grains and the newest Pringles, when I suffer if I eat them.
