Thanks for this, Janet. I have scoured both LabCorp and Direct labs. Found the insulin test on DirectLab ($29 today) and found a lab facility within 10 miles of where I live that will draw blood for either/both labs. What a wonderful way to control/monitor your own health status without having to explain to your GP why you want the test and then arguing about it.

Although I have routine blood work with an annual physical, I am not sure my physician reads them. For example, at my pre-op appointment, the examining physician told me my potassium levels were low due to my blood pressure medications (which I have been taking for years). I have been taking OTC Potassium of 99 mg but he told me I should be taking 600 mg to counteract the electrolyte loss! My own physician has never noticed!
