The Urology societies really blew their tops when this was announced. The whole concept of "overdiagnosis" of prostate cancer and its alarming extent is something that I and many others were barely aware of prior to this controversy. When the same argument is made against breast cancer screening the firestorm will really blaze, as you referenced.
