Well, it can be argued that the fiber in fruit may not be the best scenario for carb uptake, but this is another area that is splitting hairs.
The best guidelines is that for the first 36 hours (up until Sat. night) you really want to eat mainly simple carbs (sugars, white flour products, etc) that will be easily digested.
Saturday night you can begin to introduce complex carbs, and fruit.
Again, this is all textbook technical stuff. A carb is a carb. Eat it, digest it, get it into the muscle.
