Thanks. This might be the source of that persisitent rumor of "statins prevent cancer" when it seems they actually encourage it, when total mortality is assessed.
Heart attacks go down on statins (probably, they think now, due to the anti-inflammatory effect) but total mortality doesn't, because it creates increased cancer deaths.
At least they are looking at the right end of the process for a change...
