Officially, I don't know. If you were 65 and Medicare qualified, probably yes. Your doc probably has a checklist of stuff that MUST BE recommended, according to insurance or gov't requirements. However, you are not required to say yes, to statins or anything else. Just make sure you get all that on the record, for the doc's sake as well as your own.

"Patient refused treatment" may be a risk you have to take.
