Default Do omega 3s really matter?

I'm asking after the fact, there was such a good sale on walnuts I couldn't resist getting a few pounds. So I google to see if there's anything good about them and all this plant sterols and heart health benefits pop up.

I was under the impression that we don't absorb nutrients that well from plant material and that we can pretty live without plants in the diet.

Do walnuts live up to the hype?
