I know what you mean. I was at the butcher picking up my regular order, which is about $80 for a week's worth of meat for a family of 5. Sometimes I get something extra so I might spend as much as $150. I got excited about the pork shoulder and the spare ribs, so I got about 6 pounds of each. Altogether I had so much meat I could barely carry it - 30 or 40 pounds. But the total was just $105! The pork shoulder was something like $1.39 a pound.
