Cyclic ketogenic protocol / carb backloading
Anybody use these protocols at all? I've started experimenting with adding in carbs post-workout, and have noticed a renewed vigor for lifting and doing interval training and sprints.
I'm still mostly low-carb, but I now do eat some high GI/GL carbs (no grains though) immediately post-workout. Alos, I've been following Keifer, and only doing this late afternoon and evening. I've been doing this for a few weeks, and have noticed no gains on the scale, but definite gains in the gym. Any thoughts or opinions on this? |
My sons who are both body builders would say that is a healthy thing to do! Sprints, lifting, and interval training requires it. It's a whole different ballgame when you have a rigorous exercise regime. I'm an ex-jogger and know that if I take it up again, I'll have to revisit my eating plan.
