new menber struggling
Hi I decided to cut out basic carbs in my diet 3 weeks ago, (potatoes, rice, bread, pasta, cakes, sweets, chocolate, biscuits) I lost 3lb in the first week, 2lb in the second and I have put 1lb on this week. I think I need some help!!!

Sounds like you are moving in the right direction. My only suggestions are a) continue doing what you are doing b) do more research and come up with a plan that you can write down (or use one that is written and c) Most importantly, moderate or eliminate expectations, be patient, and RELAX <--- ALL CAPS probbably isn't the way to say it lol ;)

You have done well for someone not really following a plan. There is a sticky at the top of Newbie Questions...the #1 suggestion of long term successful members is pick a plan and follow it exactly until you live it everyday...until this healthy way of eating becomes your lifestyle. I'd add to that to pick a healthy goal weight and learn more about diet in general, reading Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes is good. Hi quaversave, I agree with the others, get on a plan and celebrate the loss you've had so far. As for the recipes, I use this site http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/ and this site https://www.atkins.ca/. I really like the cauliflower mac and cheese on the Atkins site.
I'm not a very creative cook, though, so maybe the others can help you more than I can. |

Deep dish pizza quiche and "crackslaw" is popular. The recipes on DietDoctor can be filtered by carb level, changed by servings, metric or US measure, top reader favorites, etc. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/recipes Since you don't want to lose much weight (your stats don't match what you wrote..you can edit if needed at User CP) losing 1 pound per week is a good rate of loss. |

The best things to eat on LC are the simplest.
Steak and green beans eggs and bacon roasted chicken with a salad and a veggie of choice All cooked in butter or bacon drippings, of course. :D |
Hi and welcome. I'm with Meme on sticking with simplicity... unless you have a lot of time on your hands and you love cooking. When I'm laid off work, I'll do more recipe cooking, but during the work week, I stick with easy-to-prepare items like meats from the freezer on the George Foreman grill, microwaveable frozen veggies, or leftover soups/casseroles/chili nuked from the freezer. Rather than focus on recipes, learn to cook your favorite basics well - roasted chicken, steak, eggs, soups. Then, those cooking techniques allow you to improvise when you're in a hurry, don't have much to choose from in your kitchen, or just don't feel like making a recipe.
Re your weight loss: remember, the scale is NOT a fat-meter. It is also not an indicator of whether or not you did well or poorly the day before. Scale weight can vary from day to day by 5 lbs or more even if you aren't trying to lose weight. Take it with a grain of salt. Best of luck. :thup: |
