Nearly there, advice please??

Okay, after much trial, error, and triumph, I am nearly to goal. Yay!! Feeling great and looking better every day. Here's the deal, I am a bit nervous about the adjustments necessary to maintain my weight. I know you guys have been through this, so if you could give me any advice on this I would appreciate it. Mistakes made? Things you did right, wrong, etc.?? Thanks so much.

Hugs, Tama

Just popping in to give you my congratulations! As you try to figure out maintenance issues, I'm sure you'll get great advice; you could "show all threads" on this forum and see what folks had to say in the past, too.

Hi Tama - maintenance is not a magical mystery tour :) It's as basic as all the other phases you've already been through.

The most key is this: Maintenance isn't about NOT losing weight anymore, it's about not GAINING weight back.

Maintaining is monitoring your progress, the same way you have been, but with a different set of goals. Identify what those goals are (they may not all be physical, and those that are, may not be weight related at all) and work towards them, doing all the same tweaking, monitoring and adjusting that you have done all along in terms of your diet and exercise.

If you have increased your carbs in OWL either daily, or occasionally, you will know what your body can handle without gaining weight. If you have an exercise regime worked out, you now have a way to burn calories effectively. Overall you now know yourself better than you ever have before.

You received all your maintenance training as you were getting to your goal. Behaviour modification, self-awareness, and an education about nutrition and food content is what you have gained, and it's all you need to continue your success.
