I haven't read the article yet, but I'm assuming by "not a single carb", what she really means is no hearthealthywholegrains, no potatoes - basically no starches and sugars. That list of foods she was eating has quite a few things that have carbs. So if she was eating any plant matter at all, she was getting carbs in her diet. Even her eggs and cheeses have carbs, albeit in very small amounts. I really do hate how the media spin on LC is always that it has no carbs at all, even when obviously even the ones claiming they're eating no carbs are eating at least some carbs. |
Read thru the entire ORGINAL 32 observations... a delight. A delight to read all the points Dr Atkins hits upon. And yes, meals once again become a well composed combo of meats, variety of vegies and nuts. Or what ever is your choice of meat and a veg to make a meal akin to restautant quality.

She's right about the coconut cream, it's divine.

Interesting how coconut cream and milk have been around so long, yet people never got around to mistaking it for real dairy.
|
I thought coconut milk was what you got out of cows when you fed them coconuts.

Ever since fat was demonized, people started eating more sugar, refined carbs and processed foods instead.
As a result, the entire world has become fatter and sicker. However, times are changing. Studies now show that fat, including saturated fat, isn't the devil it was made out to be (1, 2). All sorts of healthy foods that happen to contain fat have now returned to the "superfood" scene. |
constipation wouldn't be a problem if she really did cut out all carbs and drink double amount of water instead imo. When i ate too much brokkoli, seeds and cauiflower, labneh i had that problem too . Maximize water intake, get enough salt ,dont complicate eating with many variables-stick to what works constipation is history.
Still good for her she get the point. |
I had to go very low carb, no veg, to reap the benefits. But starting my second month and my overwhelming thought is I never want to leave this far-better state of physical and mental vitality.
I have some quibbles with her, such as THIS IS a lifestyle change for me, and my grocery bill stayed the same, and there's nothing wrong with triggering a healing phase in one's body :) |
I stumbled across this - very interesting...!
