(non-lc) Would anyone be willing to help with travel recommendations?

I hope this is OK to post here...

My husband and I are in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Ireland next March. We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary, and would like to find a chapel or other location and renew our vows while we are there. We would LOVE to incorporate some local tradition in to the ceremony. A lot of the websites I have found are a little too "commercial" for my tastes. I was hoping I might find some people here that would be willing to give us some tips, advice, recommendations or other info regarding the trip in general and a vow renewal or blessing ceremony in particular. We haven't decided yet on where we are staying, although we have thought about renting a car and doing a driving tour so that we could experience several different places. We will be there 9 or 10 days.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would suggest you rent a car and look for a suitable chapel. There are some lovely ones out the countryside, especially in the West of Ireland. You won't find any info about these on the internet but you wouldn’t really need to book them in advance. The west of Ireland is beautiful, much nicer than the east(where I'm from). The countryside is just amazing. Most people who come to Ireland come to Dublin and don't travel much further. Not a good idea, if you've only time to visit 1 city in Ireland make it Galway, much nicer and friendlier. Hope this helps, enjoy your trip.

My wife and I just returned from Ireland last month.
We really enjoyed the West !
I would definately recommend Westport !!!
A lovely little city !
We stayed at the Wyatt Hotel, which is right in the center of town.
We had the best meal at a little harbourside place called "Quay Cottage"
We also fell in love with Galway which is beautiful city. A nice location to use as your base.........close to many "must see" attractions !
If you visit Galway, be sure to save room for Fish and Chips at McDonaghs !
Cheers !

Thank you both for the tips, I really appreciate it :) We are really excited to FINALLY be getting ready for this trip, after 10 years of dreaming and planning! We didn't get a honeymoon when we were married, so here we are taking it 10 years later.. better late than never, I guess. Thanks again!
