1 Hour Post Prandial?

I can't seem to go much lower than the 130s after 1 hour without going into the 70s in 2 hours. It doesn't matter if I bolus R or H. I've read in some places that anything less than 140 is in the "normal" range.

Has anyone been checking their 1 hour BGs?

Reading Jenny's site scares the hell out of me. /sigh

You might try, but I seem to remember that you have, the various other rapid acting insulins. On the other hand if you are eating OK, and that is what your BGs want to do, and your averages are otherwise OK, maybe that just is how it will work for you. 130 is not at all terrible. What are you at 2 hours?

I was hitting 160 pp most meals, until I started symlin. Now my pps are around 110. The trick, however, is that you must match with imsulin symlin's effect of slowing your digestion. For a pumper like me, this means an extended bolus. If you are on shots, maybe you might use Regular or delay your meal injection.
V.

PS. I recall LowcarbUgh being skeptical about lots of swimming and pumping. I do this *all* the time. Heck, I even swim with my cgms. Animas makes a waterproof pump. I just clip my pump to the bottom of my tankini. It's all good.

My 2 hours are great - in the 90-100 range. I can get my 1 hours down in the 90s with 2 hours in the 70s and take 1 DET to correct. That is not really a bad thing. It would be nice to be able to tweak it more finely between H and R as a bolus.

I thought 1 hour readings interesting because they are not stressed by doctors to check and they are going to be your highest readings. I bet a lot of diabetics would be unhappily surprised to see their 1 hour readings.

I don't pump, V, because I dive, and swim. Most waterproof things are not waterproof at 3 atms of pressure and 120 feet. It would also create an awkward situation with the Divemasters to have to explain a pump, particularly when some don't speak English well. :)

I don't think my doc would prescribe Symlin because I have had delayed gastric emptying in the past and that is pretty much cleared up. He thinks my numbers are on the low side as it is. I think popping 1 DET is a lot easier than taking another med.

I have to wonder about IF and 1 hour BG readings? It seems to me there would be a very large spike. How much time above the 120 curve is too much?

I'm not sure I trust the the type 2 studies either because a lot of the subjects are older and in poor physical shape.

My one hour PP hits up to 130 when I do Bernstein's VLC.
Two hour is usually under 100.
Interestingly enough, when I do medium carb(50-100 per day)
my one hour and two hour PP's are considerably better.
Hmmm.....

My best BGs are after my evening meal of 4 PRO, 30 CHO. My bolus ratios are getting close to 1:10 with more carbs. I'm eating 40-60 per day right now and less fat.
