Carb Count Discrepancy Atkins Bars

Again... another Atkins Bar boasts 2 g Net Atkins Count per bar, but when using the Nutrition Information I count 13 g net carbs per bar: 19 g carbs minus 6g fibres... Again... what am I missing here? Can anyone hazard a guess?

The bars contain sugar alcohols, like glycerol or maltitol etc. These show up as carbohydrate on the labels. Some people don't count them, some people count them, some people compromise and count 1 gram of sugar alcohol as 1/2 grams of carbohydrate. I don't eat them, but if I did, I'd probably count them as half a gram per gram. Which is pretty much why I don't eat them, even at that, they'd pretty much knock the veggies right out of my diet.

Sugar alcohols are used in many SF candy, cookies, and suggest using the total carbs listed on package.

Article from NYPost, so take it with a grain of salt, but apparently the Atkins company is facing a new lawsuit over not counting sugar alcohols as carbs.
