Pregnancy question

No, not for me...lol. A friend of mine also has PCOS and is starting to think she may be pregnant. She's got ALL the symptoms that she had with her first child, and she just "feels" it, yanno? She's gone to the doctor and the blood work came back saying that there was no baby, but the symptoms have stayed. She's wondering if PCOS could throw off blood work like that, or would it be accurate? I told her I knew some wonderful ladies online that might be able to help her out! =)

What do you guys think? Any first-hand knowledge on the subject?

A negative blood beta is a negative blood beta - the chance it's a false negative is slim to none if she had it done after missing a period, which led her to the doctor.

If she has PCOS it won't mess up the blood test of hCG (the pregnancy hormone).....so if she's "feeling pregnant" without a positive blood beta, she can get it done once again to confirm/verify it is negative and then work with her doctor to figure out why she has the symptoms she does.....

Good...that's resoved....she's one of the slim-to-none odds of a negative! Wish her well in her pregnancy!

I know, isn't it strange?? I've never heard of it before.

The odds of a false negative are so rare, it's often considered almost impossible.....but, she may have been tested too early to register a high enough level of hCG in her blood or may have just been the really rare false negative? Either way, she's pregnant and she'll enjoy her little bundle of joy when s/he arrives!

They have no idea why all the tests were coming back negative. She had her first appt yesterday and she's 10-12 weeks along and had the blood test 2-3 weeks ago. I've always told her she was a weirdo, this just proves it! =P

I also had a negative blood test, and my DD is now nearly 6 months old. :)

I tested 10 days after conception because I just "felt" pregnant. The blood test was negative, so I assumed I wasn't...fast forward a month, and I'm getting terrible morning sickness. Went to the OB for an ultrasound, and was indeed pregnant!

My OB can't explain it.

You know what's weird? Your friend and I have the exact same situation. I had negative home tests despite "feeling" weird until partway through my 3rd month.

Hadn't had a normal period since my son was born in 2006, didn't get diagnosed with PCOS until late 2007. Due in May this year.

Sometimes a mind wants something so much it "talks" the body into the symptoms.
This happens a lot with infertility.

I wasn't trying to get pregnant, I didn't want to get pregnant, so I had attributed the weird feeling and fatigue to chasing my teething toddler around the house and poor hydration.
