New Here

Hello! Started LC one week ago and have been reading and learning all about this way of life. Day 2 and 3 were tough but now I feel really good. Decided to get healthy after discovering I now have high bp after having low bp all my life. I am also prediabetic (have been for 3-4 years) and I have high cholesterol.

Lost 50 lbs 10 years ago and only maintained it for 2 years before gaining it all back plus some.

Googled to find a LC support forum and liked this one the best.

Thanks,
Ree

Welcome, Ree.

With any luck you will thank Google in time for having led you here, just as it did for me 2.5 years ago.

How did you lose the weight first time around? Was it LC, or some other approach?

Welcome Ree
You have found a great forum for information and support, and good health information from a low carb perspective.
Don’t miss the diabetes sub-forum, you may find some simple plans to bring down BG and Insulin levels quickly. http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=45. Which often brings down BP too. https://www.dietdoctor.com/blood-pressure

Since you have read both SBD and Atkins, one suggestion, the first in our newbie advice, is pick one plan and follow it to a T. It is tempting to "remember" the later phases of "various plans" and miss the benefits of induction (see Dr Eades advice http://forum.lowcarber.org/showpost...6&postcount=163 )
All the best,

Hi Gray - I was a sahm at the time working out 3 times per day, I didn’t eliminate any food groups just smaller portions. Took about 10 months.

Hi Jey - thanks for the links and the advice, much appreciated.

I have tried LC at least 10 times in the past and never got past day 2. I’m so proud of myself sticking to it this time and surprised my cravings are gone already!
