Where to buy in Victoria

I am doing my major shop on Friday and Saturday and want to know if there is any place in Victoria that still sells low carb bread and/0r dreamsfields pasta. Thanks for any help.

Out in Sidney at the end of Beacon Drive (near the water) is the Sugar Free Depot. It's about the only place that still sells much of anything low carb in Victoria. I know they sell pasta.

Safeway has it's own LC bread now (for now....). You have to look for it. It'll probably be gone next month when the new regs take affect.

Thanks. Another question: What about Lifestyle Market? Do they still carry low carb products?

I was there a couple of days ago and all they have is some LC bars.

Real Canadian Superstore used to have Dreamfields, I haven't checked lately.

Keep an eye out for the all-soy natural pasta in the green box, can't remember the name. It's not labelled low carb particularly, it's out of asia. Health food stores.

Western Foods still bakes up the low carb bread, it's shelved Monday or Tuesday (and don't take my weekly loaf!)...

haha no problem as Western Foods is way to far out for me. I went to Safeway to see if I could find body conscious but I couldn't so I ended up buying the safeway bread that is lowfat because it is thinner cut and smaller shaped has only about 7 net carbs. I am not too worried about the amount as bread has never been my problem but just wanted some around just in case I didn't feel like making dinner one night.

In case anybody is interested: the warehouse/Superstore in Esquimalt has been carrying lowcarb bread products for a couple of weeks now. Last week they had lowcarb pitas on and this week they have lowcarb pizza shells with $1 off coupons underneath the table. The table is near the fruit and veggies area. The pizza is a big hit with me and the kids. Thankfully I only made the one pizza tonight or I would be in big trouble. :yum: :yum:

I'm wondering if they're clearing them out...the 'regular' Superstore in Langford/Colwood used to carry the LC pizza shells and the pitas (and tortillas, too) but they haven't been there for a while now, maybe a month?

Found some Carb Conscious, baked in-house and nice and fresh, at Fairways, just last week. Tucked in a corner of the bakery bread shelf...

Thrifty's is still carrying low carb bread..made by Aeroweat I think...it is on the regular shelf...used to be called Carb counting, now called Fiber counting...same bread/counts etc. Yea for Aeroweat for getting past the stupid regs.
Just read that Sugar free depot is closed...too bad...he always said that he was there more for the diabetics, but I guess the goven't went after him too...sad really, that we can't make our own minds up...kinda big brotherish isn't it.

Yes - and really, really dumb.
I wrote to Health Canada and complained. They wrote back with suggestions on websites I could go to for education on "healthy" and "nutritious" eating. All pushing low-fat...

I swear they learned everything they know about Atkins from the newspapers.
