PPLP Good for wanting to lose 100 pounds???
Hello, I am new to this forum, I have been reading stuff on Atkins and the PPLP and I am doing Atkins only because I am familiar with it. I have been doing this for 2 weeks and have only lost 5 lbs. Just wondering if the PPLP is worth trying if I need to lose 100 pounds. Seems like most people on here that do this plan do not weigh as much as me or have a lot to lose. Any help would be appreciated, I do not want to buy the book if it is not going to help me lose all this weight.
Thank you so much Heftynetty |
Well, I started with Atkins and switched to PPLP because I was stalled with Atkins for 2 months. This resulted in me eating more protein, less fat (my choice, not a requirement) and feeling more satiated. PPLP also is designed from the ground up to be tailored completely to your needs and tastes; i.e. you choose what carbohydrates to eat from the beginning. It has an essentially paleo option -- the purist -- and moderate option -- dilletante -- and an anything goes as long as you are following the rules option -- the hedonist. I'm doing hedonist. You can switch among the options at will.
Also, Eades PPLP book is filled with information everyone doing LC should know. It helps you make very educated decisions. |
I need to lose about 80 lbs, so I am close. The book is worth buying, they have a lot of good info in it. I like that you may have some fruit, or an occasional glass of wine without feeling like you really messed up.....the strictness of Atkins made me feel like such a failure everytime I slipped up...I constantly felt deprived.
I am hoping this plan is the one I can stick to long term as well! Have a great day! Natascha |
Thank you so much, I am going to buy the book, and I wanted to buy the 30 Meal Plan book as well. Do you know if this is worth it?

There are certainly people who have lost 100 or more lbs on PP. I lost 65 and stayed on the plan for over a year which is the longest I ever stuck to anything. Unfortunately, I fell off the wagon and gained a fair amount back. I'm now back on track and if I get to goal, will have lost around 70 lbs. I'm kind of a science geek so it was a good plan for me.

I lost 50lbs in 5 months on PP and have stayed on the plan for almost 6 years. One of the major differences between Atkins and PP is that in PP you eat a min amount of protein a day that pretty much insures that you will not lose muscle as you drop the fat.
