Impatient

Since Feb 20th I have only lost 2 lbs. Driving me nuts.

Oh, I know the feeling!! stick with it and it'll happen--look how far you've come already--almost 30 pounds down!!!!

You're doing great even if it doesn't feel like it right now. Maybe pick up a good weight loss book to spur yourself on. How about Wheat Belly? Just read about it myself and am thinking of borrowing it from the library.

Whatever you do--don't give up!

Thanks just feeling down since I feel stuck.

If you are eating right then you are losing fat everyday. My entire journey was a series of plateaus and drops. I'd say that on average my weight would stay at or near the same for 2 to 3 weeks between drops. The longest plateau was 5 weeks. That was followed by my biggest 'whoosh' ever... a 10 pound drop over 3 days. I weighed around 365 at the time. Month to month was my best measure of progress. Day to day fluctuations or lack of movement with the scale did drive me crazy for a while. I chilled out about it after a few months. That is just how weight loss works. Keep at it. Stay on plan You will get your reward. We are in this for the long haul. Relax and enjoy the ride.

Thanks... in my head I know that I just love to see the scale move.

You've heard the one about watching and waiting for a pot of water to boil? Same thing. Do something else, stop watching ;)

You'll do fine. Wait.

nsnd Sat, Apr-08-17 17:55

Yeah, wish I could stop watching but it is something I just can't.

thud123 Sat, Apr-08-17 18:38

Then it might be worth investigating why you "can't" That's more interesting than watching water boil. While you look into this weight might fall off without you doing much of anything except staying on your plan and waiting ;)

I'm half joking but if you can't stop wanting and watching and expecting stuff to stick to a schedule you may inflict on yourself needless suffering.

At one point on my weight loss journey I threw away my scale (it was very old and not working well), stuck to the plan and discovered when I had my annual physical at my doctor's that I was 30 pounds down. Weighing my self had been making me crazy, which is why I stopped. Weight loss had continued without the crazy making checking. Each of us has to figure out what we need to do to accomplish what we have set out to accomplish. If something stands in the way of that then it's time to find a different way of doing things and jettison what has become an obstacle to progress.

Nate - have you taken measurements? It's never too late to do that. I did my neck, upper arm, lower arm, bust, gut, hip, butt, upper thigh and calf. When the scale doesn't move, but you're doing it all right, it is heartening to see those measurements shrink. a 1/4 inch here and there add up to a bunch of missing inches, and you might not necessarily notice the difference in your clothes for a while longer. I know the scale moving down is a powerful motivator, and validation that your hard work is paying off; but the measurements are a great way to have the same feeling when the numbers on the scale are stubborn. Best of luck sticking to this - it works!
