I am not quitting

And no, I am not referring to LC HF MP. I am referring to the triple digits club!

As of today I have just a touch over 98 lbs to reach my goal. That is a double digit and not a triple digit. Woot! I would be more excited if I truly believed 282.5 lbs was going to be my end goal. That number actually represents me losing 50% of my total body weight. I expect my final goal to still be in the neighborhood of 230-240 lbs as that is what I weighed the last time my body fat percentages we firmly in the normal range. Onward and downward!

Wow impressive, keep up the good work.

Congratulations on your wonderful progress so far! No matter how much you still have left, you have the perspective of a Triple Digit Clubber. While any weight loss is difficult, for those of us that have a lot to lose, that will take a long-term commitment to attain (and then maintain), it's different. The ups and downs - sure, pretty much everyone has those, whether you have 10 or 100 to lose; but when you have worked so hard, and lost 40 or so pounds, which is TERRIFIC, and you hit a month-long plateau, and you still have so far left to go, the mentality, the fortitude and the determination to keep going is unique to those who have so much more to lose. The success stories, and motivational stories, and the before/after photos are so inspirational, because they show people like me that indeed, people like me CAN succeed. This is such a valuable resource. Again - congratulations on your progress!!!

wTG 1791klm!

I kind of think those with more than 100 pounds they'd like to loose are lucky in a way. By that I mean there is usually a significant amount of time (for me now almost a year) to roll with the ups and downs and develop patience, and like you have 1791klm, different plans and approaches practiced before quickly getting to a goal weight saying, "Now what do I do?"

I'm glad you'll stick around in the TDC! ;)

I have also left the TDC, but I'm still in.

Congratulations on that milestone. But may I ask what made you choose 282# as your goal? That's about 100 lbs above an average "healthy" weight for a man of your height.

1791klm Mon, Oct-10-16 11:50

I choose 282.5 because that is 1/2 of my total body weight (565) from when I started this way of life, it is not my final goal. And also because the last time I was around 280 lbs people saw me as perhaps being overweight, but not obese. I was a very active 280 lb man. I will however never be 180 unless I suffer from extreme muscle tissue loss or lose a leg. I was 180 lbs in middle school playing JV football with no extra body fat on my frame. My maintenance weight will probably be in the range of 220-230.

I am just an obese man living in a smaller person's body. Some bad food decisions will send me right back to my former glory. I have not changed. I am still and will forever be a TDCer. But I have changed how I eat. If I stick to it I should be able to keep this smaller person's body for a while longer.

I too chose a goal weight that was just a number. 210 pounds. It was simply not to be obese by the BMI. I didn't really think I'd get there, so it didn't really matter what number I picked. But as I got closer I started to believe. I shot right past 210. I still don't know how low I should go. Where I'm at is working fine for me. A little smaller might be nice, too. How can I find out unless I try it on for size?

MickiSue Mon, Oct-10-16 13:05

Makes sense, 1791. Makes a lot of sense. I was thinking about how Dr Atkins used to say that people sell themselves short on what they can accomplish for weight loss.

So many of us have tried so many different things that succeeded little, or not at all, that we set our goals at what feels doable, rather than what IS doable.

I like your thought process...
