Hello Everybody!

Hey everyone, I'm a man in his late 40s whos doctor has just suggested him to go on a low carb diet. Looking up diets online can be overwhelming so i was hoping to get some support here in finding one that's right for me. I've been floating around the 175 range for some time and i've waited far too long to try and do something about it so here I am. Thanks all of you! god bless!

Welcome Burt
Most Low carb diets can "work" if you accept that this is a healthy way to eat and it becomes your lifestyle, not a quick fix. This website is a good on-line resource for low carb diets with three levels of strictness. The lowest level of 20g total carbs or Keto will generally work the quickest to get you to your weight goal. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb. A simple list of unlimited allowed real foods and a few added dairy products with limits on amount, like the Atkins induction, is easy to follow. http://www.kostdoktorn.se/wp-conten...starch_diet.pdf

All the best,

Welcome Burt, Glad you found this place. I think you will get lot's of support and information here.

You can always look at it like many of us...as not looking for a diet but rather discovering a new way of eating that is better for our bodies.

I actually started by just giving up breads, chips, pasta and pop/soda because I knew from previous experiences that I lost weight giving them up and my body does need any of them as nutrients.

Later I found out that giving these type of foods was Aitkin's and after getting a name for it I found this place.

I do not follow a rigid plan but rather glean from others what works for them and try it myself.

Most recently here I learned that it could be my beloved cheese that is stalling me...so I am giving it a go without that now.

Spend as much time as you can reading here. I think you will find what works for you.

I like low carb because it is simple to understand....pretty clear lines. Eat 3 good meals of meat/low carb veggies/cheese, snack on a few nuts once through the 1st couple of weeks, drink plenty of water. That is all I pretty much do, along with daily exercise. Seems to work for me.
