Sunflower Seed Flour?
Has anyone had any success using sunflower seed flour in place of almond flour? I can't use almond flour due to a household allergy, and I recently read that you could replace almond flour with sunflower seed flour. I just ordered some and am going to try it.
I'm curious if anyone else has used it and how it worked...if there are any tricks to it or anything. I know you can't substitute straight coconut flour for almond flour because they respond differently. |
I haven't tried it yet because it's just too convenient to use the almond flour, but I trust Carolyn Ketchum and am going to try this one day:
How to Make Your Own Sunflower Seed Flourhttp://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/20...seed-flour.html She says it can be substituted 1 for 1 with almond flour in most recipes. |
i have never heard of it- will be hoping to hear it works well- my DH is allergic to tree nuts.
don't know of this will happen with flour, but when i used sunseed butter to make cookies, they turn GREEN. taste great, but they look a little creepy  |

Cool, I hadn't thought of trying to make my own flour. Maybe I'll try that. |
I used to make sunflower seed flour and bake with it. It works fine as a sub for almond. However, if you use baking soda or baking powder with sunflower seed flour, you bread/cake/whatever will turn green. Still tastes good though.
