Tomorrow is the DAY!!

Hey all!

I'm Erica and I'm from South Louisiana where food is life! We eat when we're happy, sad, and for every reason in between. I'm a wife and mom to 4 (2 biological, 2 step but all mine!) I work on my feet all day and have bought about 6 different pairs of shoes in the last 4 months hoping for some relief for my feet but deep down I know it's not the shoes...

I need to LOW CARB!! I'm at my heaviest I've been and tomorrow is the big day! Starting over for the last time. Meal prepping for breakfast and lunch at work will help out a lot.

Hoping not just to lose weight but feel better.

Thanks for reading!

Erica

Hi Erica!

I am restarting tomorrow too! Mother of 3 and at my highest weight, even heavier than I was with any of my pregnancies at full term. My youngest is going to be 7 soon, so I can't claim it is baby weight or weight gained after I stopped nursing any more. Time is NOW.

We can do this :-)

Hiltm Sun, Apr-16-17 17:54

Yes! You both can do this!

Your next step is the first step of your successful future!

Businelle Sun, Apr-16-17 20:15

Good luck to you too! We can do it! My baby is 9...lol so I can't try anymore either!

Hi Erica! Congrats on making the decision to be healthy and I believe happier. Maybe we could be buddies, I started 2 weeks ago and it's going well. I need to bring my diabetes into check, so it's really about making better choices from now on...

Businelle Sun, Apr-16-17 21:10

Sure that would be great! A little extra motivation is always needed. And I've been needing to do this low carb thing for awhile now. :agree:

Welcome to all of you. Yes you CAN do this!

Just one caveat since you listed "Atkins" as your plan: stay away from all the "Atkins bars", "Atkins shakes" and all the other "Atkins products" with all their sugar alcohols! Most people here will tell you that that stuff interferes with weight loss! Others will tell you that Atkins bars just tend to make them WANT other kinds of sweets.

Better to just leave that stuff entirely alone! The desire for sweets dissipates fairly rapidly when you don't feed it. All the sugar-alcohol bars do is keep you wanting sugar and make it more likely you'll eventually give up low-carbing without ever reaching your goal weight. The good doctor would probably turn over in his grave if he knew what was being sold in his name!

Instead, eat REAL FOOD for every meal. If you feel the need for a snack, make it REAL FOOD too. Some celery packed with cream cheese, a hard-boiled egg, some bacon (make sure it isn't sugar-cured), etc.

You'll probably do best if you can find a copy of the original (1972) Atkins book and follow that plan but many people do fine with the more liberal later plans...as long as they don't rely on "Atkins products"

Thanks Bevangel!! I did Atkins years ago and keeping it simple always worked best. I tried some of the Atkins products and honestly don't really care for the taste! Plus I find that they're pricey!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hello and Welcome Erica!

Ditto what Bev said!

IMHO, Atkins 1972 is by far the best! But Imma really biased! It is however, one of the more restrictive WOE. For someone like me, I NEED that kinda restriction b/c I have a crap load of food related issues.

Wishing you much success on your journey to better HEALTH! :agree:

Been sipping on my ice water all day too! I think being prepared has really helped in making good choices.
