3rd time LC, now to lose 100+, need a buddy!!!

Hi all,
This is my third time on Atkins, first was in the seventies, when I lost 15 kilo, then end eighties, and I lost a lot - didn't have scales then - and now after a lot of lo fat lo cal efforts and meds that made me gain an additional 15 kilo, I have decided to go Atkins again. Have been doing that since 6 November, have lost 4 kilo since then, which is not really great.
I know I'm a slow loser, but I need support to keep going i.e. not to lose faith that it'll work again!!
Hope to find a few buddies, thanks in advance!

Hi Willeke

I have come to the conclusion that I'm also a slow loser. I've been doing Atkins (to the letter, no cheating) for four weeks now. I initially lost 7 pounds in 4 days or so, but since then have hovered between a 3 and 5 pound loss.

I'm trying other options. F'rinstance, I'm now trying to keep my carbs about 15 for a day, instead of the 20 allowed. I've taken myself off of one of my diabetic meds, so far with no ill effects (my readings have been good lately anyway) and I've started with some good supplements.

It's so frustrating, isn't it. You hear of others losing at a great rate (my husband included) but me? NO WAY!!!

Keep in touch

Kerry

buddy?!

Hi PollyRob
thnaks for your message, does this mean we can be buddies for each other? That would be great! I haven't had much more than 10 carbs for the past days, but part of them was in cream and I know I don;t do very well with that. After New Year's I will stop taking cream in my decaf, will have it black, and I will increase fat and decrease other stuff, so that I get used to smaller quantities but with enough fat to keep the ketosis going.
I cna't help you with the diabetes meds, my husband has diabetes, but I don;t know enough about the meds, I'm afraid.
Thanks for your response!

Hello again Willeke

Yes, let's try this buddy thing, it sounds like a great idea to me.

I'm having trouble staying under the 20 carb level. It just seems to creep up through the day. Another thing I'm trying is to keep my sodium under the 100% for a day, also not that easy, especially as I like bacon a lot. I also like pork rinds and want to try them as a coating for chicken (along with parmesan cheese, sounds good to me). In fact today I managed to have 22 grams.....sighhh!!

I did have a good exercise session this morning though, so it'll be intersting to see what the scales say tomorrow.

You say you have troubles with cream? I've not heard of that one before, you are unlucky. Have you considered trying that non-dairy whitener in your coffee? It has 1 gram carb, but it may suit you better than cream. I enjoy my tea (decaf) with cream in it, although I'm considering trying it without Splenda which count for about 4 of my daily carbs.

Keep me updated please, and keep well

Kerry

hi

Hi Kerry, just a quick note - have to prepare some goodies for tonight and shop first - great that we'll be buddies, I will take a peek in your journal every day, I think that's a good way to keep in touch, what do you say?

cheers
and a happy New Year's!

Good evening Willeke, and a happy 2003 to you.

Come to my journal and welcome. I'm thinking I might start actually listing what I eat, I did that at first but haven't lately.

I think I've forgotten how to count...LOL. Today I managed to have 25 carbs....that's a lot for me, but you never know, it might be good for me.

Actually I might go visit your journal too, it's a nice way to get to know each other, isn't it.

Kerry
