what to eat

Hello, I have been reading the message sites, and found them very help full with some question I had.

I have Just started the No carb way of eating, My biggest and toughest problem is finding food that does not incorporate carbs. Meats are are all good but I was never a big meat eater in the first place, now a I have to cut out my most favorite food in the world "RICE" waaaaaaah.

I know I have to do this, and I can, but what can a substitute it with that would not brake my no carb way of eating?

Please if you have any suggestions please let me know

Thank you:D

Welcome to the board. I am on the Atkins so I am allowed low carbs....not sure why you choose no carbs? You are allowed some....anyway I too loved rice and cooked it a lot.

The other day I used Califlower to make chinnese rice and it was really nice with my stir fry...now if I can remember where I got the reciept....lol....either on this site or Dr. Atkins site I know for sure.

Why not have some low carb veggies? I would think it would make your way of eating a happier one!

Wendy

Which plan are you following? I think all of them are low carb and not NO carb lol because I think the only things that are truly no carb is unprocessed meats and lard.

But you don't have to give up that rice texture or taste :) Wendy is right cauliflower makes a wonderful rice!

I grate it up and stir fry it a bit and then yum yum :) It is really good for picking up the flavors of other foods so I'll put some beef and broccoli in with it and it turns out quite well.

Best of luck!

Hello Sakura,

Welcome to the board!

This way-of-eating is not no-carb, it’s low-carb! If you haven’t yet, you really need to read one of the books recommended in the links below. My personal favourites are Protein Power and Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution.

It takes a lot of adjustment to switch from high-carb to low carb. Carbs in this WOE come from low carb vegetables—leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and the list goes on and on.

Fish, tofu, eggs and cheese are great to eat too! You don’t have to eat meat exclusively.

For your rice dilemma, besides the grated cauliflower our illustrious members have suggested, you can use finely chopped cabbage and lightly stir-fry it. It’s not the same as rice of course, but it will help.
