OWL and order of 5 carb gram increases

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to seek some advice. After induction is it necessary to add foods according to the Carbohydrate ladder as in the Atkins book 1-9 more veg, cheese etc. or can you add say no 4 before 2 or 6 before 1 etc. can you mix the order up?

Also if you add a new food group one week and then are going out for a meal, can you have alcohol in the same week or do you have to wait for another week to add in the alcohol group?

Finaly can you have a low carb bar as part of your 5 gram increase at any time regardless of the new food group added, once you count the bars?

Many thanks, after making induction I sure don't want to mess up OWL.
All support is soo greatly appreciated

Casso.

Part of doing OWL is learning which foods affect you adversely. While you slowly raise your carb allowances week by week to find the maximum you can eat and still lose, you are supposed to gradually add in foods going up the carb ladder. As you go up the ladder, the foods tend to get higher carb as well. Now, the first two things on the list you have already had, veggies and cheese. Third is nuts, fourth is berries. I don't see a problem with you going to berries right away. Try them as a treat and see what your reaction is. Don't have them every day to start. Take it slow since this is what you will be eating the rest of your life and if something sets off cravings or gives you a sugar rush or weight gain if you eat it, NOW is the time to learn about it.

Take it real easy on the alcohol since your body may be much more sensitive to it. And again, monitor your reaction. Also, have lowcarb snacks handy since alcohol will lower your resistance to stay away from the high carb crap.
