New here... Learning so much

Hi all-
I am Jackie --- a 47 yr. old woman on a quest to beat a carb addiction. I scored 100% on the test and just finished reading the Hellers' book. Many years ago, I needed to lose 10 pounds and used CAD to get there. Now, many years later, health issues, age, and loss of control has lead me here. I would like to lose about 70 pounds. I have been exercising almost everyday ( walking for 30-45 minutes). Now, it is time to get the eating stabilized.

Thanks for listening...

struggling

Thanks for the welcome

I am doing CAD, not CALP. I have been stuck at -2 for two weeks and frustrated. I have been reading about general low carb (keeping below 60 grams) and thinking about trying it. I miss eating yogurt and fruit and can't seem to get it all in one sitting.

A bit of background--- I have been exercising at least 5 times a week for the past three months, but my eating habits have been horrendous until about 2 weeks ago.

I also was not feeling well (headache and stomachache) yesterday. Could that be because of CAD.

Any suggestions?

Hi Jackie,

I started almost a year ago, at your same starting weight, and have lost 60 pounds. You can do it! I lost most consistently and fastest when I was doing no grains and no sugar, not even fruit. I've just been reading up on CAD/CALP and this is what I've been doing lately without knowing that's what it's called. However, I'm not losing, just maintaining. Good luck to you.

Best of luck to all of you!

As a long time CALPer, I am nearing the end of my fifth year of following this program. I have lost over 100 pounds and have adapted this program as my way of eating for life.

I am working on my last ten pounds or so, and after over thirty years of being obese, I have found my miracle cure!

Wishing all of you the best of luck in whatever program works for you!

I have noticed that the scale sometimes holds steady when the body is changing shapes......... Don't give up. Just give it some time. The Hellers even discuss that in their books.
