Hi bob - we are almost neighbors. Do you ever go to Tookie's? Haven't been in awhile since I can not resist their onion rings.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Is this the same Gumby that's been here awhile or is it a new Gumby? Just wondering?

If anyone is near Pflugerville, I kettelbell train every morning from 8am-9:45am in the Gilleland Park by the community pool while my kids are at swim practice. Anyone interested, is welcome to join.

The training usually consists of kettelebell drills, walking/running and pull-ups. I'm looking into adding a medicine ball and a matt in the near future.

KB.. I just moved to Austin in Aug 2004 (from Indianapolis) and the Brisket/Sausage is awesome! I am new to locarb but it's going great so far. The weight loss is great..even better is the constant energy I now get..no slumps and peaks. Are there any stores where they sell "lower carb" items? I did find a health food store off Braker and 183.

I have been on the site for awhile, but have not been an active poster. Tookies is near Kemah and Seabrook, TX.

It's hard to beat The Whole Foods Market. If you haven't visited them yet, give 'em a try. There's lots of good bbq in and around Austin. If you ever make it out to Elgin, stop by Southside Market and get you some brisket and sausage. Very yummy! If you're ever in Pflugerville, Danny's BBQ just across from Blockbuster is darn good as well.

Oh sorry I didn't even look at your stats. The other Gumby is a guy & I believe he's from TX too. It must be a popular name for Texans because there was a Gumby that used to work for my husband too.

I found something .. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/sho...D_16177,00.html

I heard this site has good info. It's "Low Carb and Lovin' It" on Food Network. I haven't checked it out much yet.

Yes, that is one of my favorite shows. Unfortunately it is on at 4 AM here. :(

The host is George Stella. He has a website called Stella Style.

I have his 2 books: "Low Carb and Lovin It" and "Eating Stella Style."

Displaced Texan

I grew up in Wichita Falls but after marrying my husband who was in the Air Force, we moved away. I now live in Ohio, but my mother and brother live in Brownsville.

Besides Mexican food, my favorite Texas food is chicken fried steak with white gravy. I would like to find a low carb version of it.

As far as I am concerned NO one can make chicken fried steak as good as Texans do.

And you ain't just whistling dixie here either! :D The best chicken fried steak I've ever eaten came out of Mason, TX. It came on a plate all by itself.

The meat market in Fredricksburg has THE BEST dried sausage. They even have one with extra garlic. They're about $6 bucks a piece, but they are worth it. I usually grab 4 or 5 on the way through (and a few peaches too :) ).
