Trader Joe's has Finally! added Bone Broth, Chicken and Beef. But...it is $2.99 for two cups!

The single packs of Volpi prosciutto wrapped around mozzerella sticks and the Citterio salami and cheese packs have been moved in our store to the pre-made lunch items, salads, wraps, LC grab n go items for lunch.

Costco also added a new artisan bone broth, in the fridge next to HWC, also expensive.

Virta Health sent a generic Low Carb shopping list and Tips, but it also had their Trader Joe's favorites with a few Costco items too.

For collagen users, new TJ item is the Great Lakes collagen in green can. 7 Oz. For $9.99.
Amazon is $27.49 for 16 Oz.

Janet- you bummed me out that I had missed the nasty oil in the crabcakes. Luckily, my TJ's stopped carrying them but we do have the frozen lump meat. Thanks for tip!

How do you take the collagen- so you add it to a drink?

Robin120 Mon, Sep-03-18 11:48

New product- frozen riced cauli bowl with chickepeas, tofu, sweet potato and kale (i think might be spinach).

It is clearly a single serve bowl, but lists 2.5 servings.
It was delicious and VERY filling but who wants to reheat something frozen, heated and then microwaved again? That would make it watery IMO.

Each bowl is 300 kcal and 19 net carbs I believe (can't find nutrition online yet), so it might be 18. Total for bowl is listed on package next to "serving."

At any rate, I really enjoyed it. And while 18-19 is a splurge for me, if I plan ahead that works easily within 30-35 per day. I recommend adding 2 eggs for protein and half an avo for fat.

It is nice way to enjoy a bit of sweet potato and beans without having to worry about leftovers/food waste.

Just now saw your question. I add collagen to regular TJ boxed broth, pretending to make it more healthy like bone broth. And very hit or miss when I remember to do it, so I cannot claim my joints or skin are better for it. Now that I can easily purchase it locally, I should be more consistent. Haven’t yet tried the precious bone broth, and now saving it for hurricane supplies. There are so few canned and boxed foods in pantry, and no bread and milk in this house ;) so will rely on frozen meats as they defrost and a propane grill if needed.

I'm getting some good ideas from Keto Connect videos / Matt and Megha. First saw them in the Keto Bakery video.

With my Trader Joe's fetish, I have at some point bought everything in that segment, and avoid the same ones. must stop! To my defense, that is over 12 years.
Since we now have a convenient Costco, that is my source for KerryGold butter, and KG cheeses, rotisserie chicken breast off the bone in vacuum packs replaces Simply Chicken, meats, dairy, EVOO (keep it in a dark pantry but transfer smaller amounts to the TJ jar they showed), and a surprising amount of organic produce.

Featured in May's newsletter for summer...Seltzer's with a splash (of juice) No sweetners of any kind, all organic. The orange has 3g carbs, but the other two are less than 1 and 0 carbs.

My beloved pb with chia and flax seed is gone (rumored to return in the fall), so I finally tried the mixed nut butter.
OMG..... I am so glad DH is allergic and I can shamelessly go at the jar with a spoon

I'm dying to try new chicken collard greens wrap, but haven't spotted it yet.

Not food related- but the cards are dirt cheap and so cute.
My latest was the last of its kind by cash register as I waited in line. It was morning after my embryo transfer and has jungle animals on the front with caption "adventure awaits." Inside it congratulates the person on becoming a parent. I decided it was a sign and bought it, feeling very doubtful i was going to become. pregnant.
When I did, I was so excited to give it to my husband!

Very cute!!

I was excited for the new Everything But the Bagel dip. I love the seasoning and I love yogurt dips, but I wouldn't buy it again. It was ok, but not as flavorful as I hoped. For.much cheaper, I have been using the seasoning stirred into Greek yogurt for ages. Maybe it's just because I use a very heavy hand with the salt shaker, but I found this dip "just ok."

I do reccomed the horseradish hummus, tomato basil hummus, spinach and kale dip and avocado tzatiki.
also love the pepita salsa and hope the fall harvest salsa makes a return!

I got two cards yesterday: Halloween - a bandage wrapped cartoon dog mummy, and a Thanksgiving. Can't beat the price at $0.99! I've gotten blank cards also that you can use in a pinch for anything. They are very nice. The TJ I go to has the full card rack all the way in the back almost next to the cheese.

Tried the new cauli risotto. It was good, but adding butter made it much better. I still prefer the higher carb cauli stuffing from last year. I hope it returns.
This did have nice chunks of squash
I will probably buy a few bags for the novelty. But if I see the stuffing, I really load up on that one.

Has anyone tried Bitchin' Sauce? Not a TJ product but at Safeway and other groceries. Looks like hummus but it's made from almonds. Comes in about 6 flavors. Expensive! But a nice low carb treat.
