New in Arizona

Hi, everybody. New to this forum, three weeks into low carb (Atkins), and a little frustrated. First week, lost 2.3 pounds, second week gained 3.5, this week, lost .8. Looking at my food journal after the gain, I decided I probably wasn't eating enough, since I really wasn't hungry. So third week, was meticulous about getting the 20 net carbs per day. Only lost .8. The only thing I can think of is that my snacks tend to be an Atkins shake or an Atkins bar. Could that be the problem?

 Hey pvmorgan! Hello from SW New Mexico! Welcome to the best LC WOE site on the planet.

I recommend that you don't do the LC shakes, snacks or pre packaged meals. Eat "real" foods. I'm doing A '72, the purist and probably the most restrictive of all the Atkins LC WOE.

I am carb sensitive so I can't count NET carbs, only actual carbs and eat less than 10 carbs a day. So I am basically in Induction and will stay there to the grave unless I want to regain the 146 lbs I've lost.

Wishing you much success of your LC WOE journey! Cheering :cheer: onward and DOWNWARD, pvmorgan!

Hopefully you're eating real food. If there is a label to read, it's not likely doing you any favors.

For the most part, I eat real food, always have. Taught my children that McDonald's and Kraft don't make real food. My daughter is a great cook, and my son is a professional cook. I just got into the habit of relying on Atkins products this past week for snacks, not meals, and was wondering if other members had experienced a weight-loss slowdown under the same circumstances.

Yes, throw away the Atkins products, especially bars. Some can do the shakes and lose, but they were way too sweet for me and stopped weight loss. Only eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full. Your gain did not occur because you were not eating enough, let your body tap into its own energy stores.
