Low carb or Metformin?

i started taking metformin 500 mg XR once a day to help with my hair growth, hair loss, constant cravings for sweets (which was leading to my difficulties losing weight) and just get my overall testoterone down.

i have also been low carbing (not too religiously though, once in a while ill have a little something i shouldnt be eating) but for the most part i just eat eggs for breakfast, salads with chicken cheese and ranch for lunch, and steamed veggies and some sort of meat for dinner.

anyway it's only been my 3rd day on metformin and ive been on LC for about a week and i already can tell ive lost weight. Plus, my hair loss is cut by more than a half (used to be 35-50 loss in the shower/while combing now it's 10-15)...and my PERIOD started randomly the second day after metformin.

So my question is wheter all these things are happening b/c of LC or because of metformin..It's only been 3 days on metformin so is it possible for it to start working this fast?

Hi.

Both a low carb diet *and* Metformin have been demonstrated to improve insulin resistance, so I'd say it's a combination.

Good luck, and I hope you continue to see improvement.

Good luck

Has anyone gone from taking regular metformin to met XR and noticed a difference? I am on regular.. lost 15 lbs over a few months just by changing my diet, but wondering if XR might be a better choice. Are there less tummy-rumbling moments on the XR?

Do you drink 8 glasses of water/day? Have you had your thyroid levels checked?
Pregnant? Maybe your MD will adjust met dosage next time? Hang in there!
