Reversing Type 2 Diabetes Starts with Ignoring the Guidelines

Brilliant New TedTalk! A must see...distribute this one widely.
18 minutes to possibly save a life.

Can a person be "cured" of Type 2 Diabetes? Dr. Sarah Hallberg provides compelling evidence that it can, and the solution is simpler than you might think.

Dr. Sarah Hallberg is the Medical Director of the Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program at IU Health Arnett, a program she created. She is board certified in both obesity medicine and internal medicine and has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology. She has recently created what is only the second non-surgical weight loss rotation in the country for medical students. Her program has consistently exceeded national benchmarks for weight loss, and has been highly successful in reversing diabetes and other metabolic diseases. Dr. Hallberg is also the co-author of www.fitteru.us, a blog about health and wellness.

Note that she has a LC program in Indiana if someone is looking for a mid-west doctor. Dr. Westman agrees she is "amazing".

Another great resource, Janet! Many thanks, and her talk is very inspirational. Checking out her blog now.

I liked her definition of "cure" - something is only cured if it does not come back. She admits that her protocol won't "cure" diabetes, but it can reverse diabetes. The IR or diabetes returns when you return to eating lots of carbs.

Talk is garnering accolades from around the world.

Cool info. Sure does work, I'm doing it now (but was pre-diabetic), many on a diabetes forum I go to have done it too. For sure, HFLC is awesome!

Welcome nwlifter, her TEDTalk is approaching half a million views, people are posting on her FB page and blog how they heard it and it has changed their lives.
If you like her style, she has been posting good videos on a single topic, it is like you visited her office and asked a question about nuts or kidney disease or whatever. The most recent for new year is how to start a LCHF diet.

nwlifter Sun, Jan-10-16 11:04

Thanks, I hadn't heard of her until your post, I had found the low carb info, 'out there everywhere' on the net, then found low carb Mediterranean, then settled on low carb (and even keto for a while) Paleo. :)

Over half a million views now... in 8 months.
A review posted last week on her FB page:

Quote:
Dr. Sarah Hallberg,
Has saved my life... And I've never even met her.
As a nurse, I knew the science.. But Sarah lit the light bulb for this type 2 diabetic...

Obese... Hi BP... Hi cholesterol... Reflux..
On 3000 mg of metformin... Threatened with insulin. A1c 7.8 ... Fastings 140-160

That was one year ago.. Then I saw Sarah's Ted X u tube video..

Today, I have lost 26% of my starting weight of 156... I am now 113.
I am off not only metformin... But all 8 pills I was taking for medical issues.
I haven't felt this good since I was 30!
I am 58... And feel great...!!!
So Sarah Hallberg saved my life.

Thank you Sarah ... You've touched so many more than just the people you see at your clinic...
You are my hero!

Another great intro to LCHF from Dr. Sarah. This video is a candidate for many who are interested and haven't had the time to figure out how to get started. Her practice has become very busy, which is a good thing for the Dr. and her patients.

Dr Hallberg and Dr Hamdy of The Joslin Diabetes clinic, had a powerful Option piece in the NYT Sunday Review.

Before You Spend $26,000 on Weight-Loss Surgery, Do This

In three days the views of her TEDTalk have jumped, this morning at 984,000. So controversial or not, her 18 minute talk is getting a whole new audience. There happened to be a meeting of our "survivor focus group" at oncologist clinic and manager mentioned that my doctor had read this article and brought it to her attention as the low carb Janet has been promoting. ;)

In new interview with Dr Ted Naiman from Ivor Cummins, http://www.thefatemperor.com/blog/2...8gxxvi5xklrzr2c. toward the end he mentions that if the HbA1c is 5.6 or less, he removes the Diabetes diagnosis from a medical record and replaces it with Carb Intolerance. What a great solution to this cure/reverse debate...the patient no longer has diabetes because no test indicates an active problem, but there is an underlying issue that must be monitored forever.
