slimming club at work

I just joined a slimming club at work.
We are all doing different diets/methods, but will meet every Friday morning for a weigh-in, to see how we're all getting on and support each other. Everyone chips in 50p a week, and the person who's lost the most weight that week gets all the money... probably around £10.

Not sure if it will really help me, but it can't hurt.
Anyone else do something like this?

It sounds like a great idea! I wish I had found a group at work many years ago.

Are they measuring the "most weight lost" as a percentage of what you need to lose, percentage of your body weight or just the number of pounds lost?

Depending on which of those would depend who is likely to get the cash!! And probably the person with the most excess weight to start with will win for the first weeks as they are likely to lose more actual pounds than someone with maybe 20 pounds excess in my experience

I don't think it'll be terribly sophisticated, so probably just based on pounds lost.

That would load it in favour of the person with the most excess weight I would think.

Ah well, at least it does give all participants an incentive and a support group, so I am sure it will be a positive experience for all of you.

Actually the calculations for measuring how much % of total body weight would not be too complicated and I think it is the method used by "The Biggest Loser" programmes.

Here is someone's BL-style calculator that you could use for the final results, or use it each week entering each week's start/finish weight to see % lost as you go.

what a fab idea!! i only work occassionally as i'm on a relief basis where i work but if i was there more often i would defo suggest this at my place! i think its good because there is suport there for you, you have a weigh in so you feel accountable each week, and there's the bonus of an incentive while following a plan that YOU want to do without expensive joining and weekly fee's, all around winner :) hope it goes well for you hun xx

>sigh<
The slimming club at work didn't really take off... after about 2 weeks people started dropping out. I went on holiday, and when I came back the girl who runs it said they're not doing it anymore.

What a shame :(

How did you fare in those weeks?

I lost nothing during that time. Was finding it hard to get started on my programme.
