New but not “new”

Hi Everyone! My name is Kelly and I am another LCF member that found my way over here after hearing our site will be shutting down. While I’m new to this site, I’m not new to my low carb journey. I began my journey in April 2016 and lost 35lb and reached my goal weight by August 2016. I maintained that progress into 2017 and felt amazing. In the second half 2017 I had some setbacks, including a kidney stone which required surgery. I stopped low carb for about a month during that ordeal thinking the kidney stone was caused by my WOE. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that was not the case, but struggled to get back on plan after being off for about a month. This extended into the holidays and I started 2018 having gained about 20lb back. I’ve slowly been getting back on track and want to continue my journey back to my maintenance range and stay there this time around! I hope you all don’t mind another former LCF-member joining you here! I look forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome Kelly

I know all about the 20lb bounce after reaching goal. I achieved goal in August 2016 and did well in maintenance for much of the next year. While I didn't plunge back into the carbs, I crossed the line the following spring and put 20+ pounds on over the next few months. I'm still working to get those pounds back off.

I wish you the best. We both know what to do. We just have to do it.

I came to this forum when Jimmy Moore closed the forum on livinlavidalowcarb. This group is very welcoming and extremely helpful. Friendly, even. Most of the good stuff is in the individual journals. We do lots of self experimentation (n=1) and share our results as well as all the ups and downs our WOE can bring. Like everything else in life, you get out what you put in.

You are so very welcome here.

Hey, there, Kelly!!! Good to see you here. I'll be trying to find my way around, too.

Hi Casey! Glad to see a familiar name!!

Bluesinger and Ken - thanks so much for the warm welcome! You're absolutely right, we know what to do, we just have to keep doing it. I am looking forward to restarting my journey here!
