Georgia Ede MD - New Study Finds Saturated Fat Causes PTSD... or Does It?

New Study Finds Saturated Fat Causes PTSD... or Does It?
The dirty little secret behind most anti-fat headlines. 6-25-2018

Lock your doors—saturated fat is on the prowl again . . . and this time it’s not waiting around until you're middle-aged to clog your arteries and give you diabetes. It’s coming for your teenagers’ brains. Yes, according to the press release headline announcing this new study in the peer-reviewed journal Brain, Behavior and Immunity, PTSD is the new fatty fear on the block:

“ADOLESCENTS WHO CONSUME A DIET HIGH IN SATURATED FATS MAY DEVELOP POOR STRESS COPING SKILLS, SIGNS OF POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER AS ADULTS.”

This new headline about PTSD has already been picked up and published by a number of online news outlets.

If you are a rat eating high sugar and soybean oil chow, be afraid! Be very afraid! I wonder what happens to human adolescents eating high sugar and soybean oil "chow" (processed human junk foods), since they didn't test that? I also wonder if the chow soybean oil is hydrogenated, since most of what's in soybean oil is inflammatory rancid omega 6 polyunsaturated fats, not saturated fat. You know, the stuff those big organizations keep recommending we eat instead of saturated fat. Yuck!

I caught the tail end of Dr. Ede on Samantha Heller's nutrition show on Doctor Radio on Sirius XM the other day. She did extremely well in a vegan-promoting environment. After her time was over on the show and her departure, Heller proclaimed to one caller, "Well, I don't agree with everything she said." No kidding! But it was great to hear Dr. Ede navigate the mythical beliefs that are discussed on this show. Nothing contentious, but she did tell one caller that she needed to supplement her all-vegan approach with B vitamins and healthy fats. Heller probably thinks the healthy fats are Soy and Canola oil. Yes, love the fact that Dr. Ede is becoming a prominent voice in healthy nutrition.
