Fried fish in batter, what's the damage?

OK, my halo slipped momentarily today, due to not being organised and not taking my usual salad, meat and cheese for lunch.
I ventured out and the fish & chip shop called my name.
I just had a fried battered fish fillet, no chips or peas.
How many carbs do you reckon?

Found this, hope it helps:

9g carb per piece, with .3 g of fiber.
A piece being defined as: 1 fillet (6-1/4" x 3-1/2" x 3/8")
This is based on a white flour batter.

For breaded, same serving, you're looking at
11.2 g carb, with ~.4g of fiber.
This is a white flour breading.

From RecipeZaar: http://www.recipezaar.com/249313
3lbs of catfish pieces yields 10-12 servings
And uses:
1.5 cups of cornmeal (120g net/cup, so 180 total) from nutrtiondata.com
Plus
1 cup of flour (92g net/cup) from nutritiondata.com

So, ~270 for 3 lbs of catfish filets or nuggets, with 10-12 servings. A healthy serve is 27g, a "health conscious" serve is 22.5.

Thanks Honeybadger! I always wondered about that. Sometimes its just hard to get what you want. Its not a killer to eat the batter on occasion, but its not the best in the world either. The best option, is to always peel the coating off, or just not eat it in the first place. Sometimes, hard to do.

According to Diet Club, one piece (150g/5 oz) of battered fish has 21g carbs and 344 kcalories.

I would just count it as a bit of a slip, and carry on again with your plan tomorrow. And don't weigh yourself for a few days. ;)

Thank you! I was imagining it might be about 40g, so maybe not so bad as I thought!

I always order a chicken breast if I end up at the chippy's for food!

As it is not coated in anything except its skin it is perfect for an Atkins choice. Add a couple of gherkins for "salad veg" and I am done and still on plan. ;)
