 I am really happy to find this site.
I am in a weight gain nightmare. I am getting fatter as we speak and have decided to try a low carb diet. I eat fairly low carb now or at least I thought I was until I started reading this site. My dietitian has me on 134gm a diet (Diabetic). Hope this works............. |
Welcome aboard Shelly. What plan are you following, which book?

I actually have not found a book, I thought I would try I with the help of a dietitian. But they are a little resistant to very low carb. Any suggestions on a good book to follow?

Dietitians are resistant to any diet they don't supervise and get paid for :)
There are a couple of books on low-carb for diabetics (check our book section from the menu above). One that comes to mind is "Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution : A Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Sugars." Wa'il |
hi Shelley,welcome to the forum
You mentioned you're following a diabetic diet. Are you actually diabetic?? If so, are you on any medication, or hoping to control blood sugar with diet alone? A low carb program will be really helpful for diabetes control, with weight loss a wonderful side effect .. ;) If you're on medication, it's possible you may be able to go off it, but you need your dr. to keep track of that.
Yes, most dieticians are resistant to lowcarb -- on the other hand, they're not in charge in your kitchen, and ultimately your food choices are up to you. As Wa'il pointed out, Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution is a good place to start. Check out the website http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com/ .. there are quite a few useful exerpts from his book posted online .. :) |
Hi, yes I am a diabetic. Controled by diet.
I hope this will work for me, I'm so tired of being obese. The only thing that will be hard to give up is potato chips:( Anyone else a diabetic? Thanks for the suggestions, will check that out. |
