Question - Help, Thoughts, and Suggestions Please

Hello everyone,

I have been on a low carb WOE since July 5th. I have been tracking my foods in Fitday. I have: 65% fat, carbs 4%, protein 19%, and alcohol (14%). The alcohol is a big no-no, but it's there (weekends).

I exercise 3-4 times a week. My work out consists of: the elliptical or treadmill (walk/run), stretches, and free weights/weight machines.

I had blood work done a week ago because I wanted my blood sugar and thyroid checked. I had a 3 hour glucose test.

Glucose test - 99 - fast
184 - 1 hour
124 - 2 hours
72 - 3 hours

My A1C was 5.6

My thyroid results - TSH - 2.09 The lab did not do a full thyroid panel. I wasn't happy about that!

I received my results in the mail, with my doctor's notes "normal" on them. She is not concerned about my glucose numbers, not even the 184. I asked another doctor about the 184, and she said that is a bit high and I should be tested again next year.

So my real dilemma is that I have not lost anything since I started low carbing. Nothing. I started eating this way for two reasons: I want to lower my sugar intake and I want to lose weight.

I am eating eggs scrambled in butter for breakfast most days. (some days I don't eat breakfast if I'm full) I'm eating a salad with meat (chicken or steak) for lunch and I'm having a meat and vege for dinner.

I do have coffee in the morning with heavy cream and Stevia in it. If I am wanting something sweet in the evening, I'll have some whipped heavy cream. I am drinking water.

I am going to continue with this WOE for 6 weeks, but if I have NOT lost, I will change my diet.

I would LOVE any suggestions/help any of you successful ladies can give me.

Thank you in advance! You can probably figure out that I'm VERY FRUSTRATED!!! :help:

One more bit of information I haven't posted.

I started low carb on June 18th. My weight was 173. I stayed on low carb (no alcohol) until July 4th (my wedding anniversary) - and that day I had carbs and some wine. I began low carbing again on July 5th(my original post).

I had not lost any weight when I originally began low carbing (June 18th) - in fact, I gained. I am now weighing 177-178. That is why I scheduled my doctor's appointment and lab work.

Thanks!

Did you take your measurements? I have found that when you add exercise to the mix your body composition changes quickly. You maybe losing inches over pounds. Remember muscle is denser and weighs more by mass. (Think one cubic inch of muscle vs fat) Also do you check to see if you are in ketosis? IF you are then you are burning fat. It helps keep me motivated when the scale isn't moving.

I have

not needed to take my measurements because my pants are truly tighter around the middle than they were. Not only has the scale gone up, but my waist has increased.

I'm doing a few things different now. I'm using a lot less heavy cream, less cheese and I'm not having snacks. I will see if this makes any difference.

I have been in ketosis -but I am unable to measure any better than "small."

I have exercised 3 time so far this week - cardio and weights - so I'm doing really well in that area. I guess time will tell.

One good thing - my weight is holding it's own right now - at least I have stopped gaining!
