I am seriously considering quitting smoking very soon. Will this raise my BG? If so...any ideas on how I can remedy that? I am soon to be 56 years old and do not exercise maybe that's the key???

I quit smoking about five years ago - long before I found out I am diabetic. I don't know the answer to your question but do have some thoughts. I think it may be that your body will, in the short term, consider stopping smoking as stress and cause your BG to go up slightly. On the other hand, the good long term effects of quitting will far outweigh any short term, slight rise in BG. Also, it might be that your BG will go up because you will eat more. Again, a temporary thing but be prepared for the munchies with allowable snacks like celery. When I quit smoking I didn't exercise. I didn't start that until I found out I am diabetic. I think exercise would have been a tremendous help.
Good luck!

Thanks Nopie, I am now 1 and 1/2 hours smoke free hehehe. We'll see what happens. Five years for you..that is fantastic!
I agree with you that the long term benefits of not smoking should outweigh any slight raise in BG. I see exercise in my future *G*.
Thanks again for your support.
