The government, et al. continue to spout that dietary fat makes you fat. Yet, the 4 top graphs from USDA itself show that fat consumption among both genders has decreased since 1965. Fat consumption has remained steady over the last decade.

Yet, while fat consumption was going down or remaining steady, rates of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease have gone through the roof. So, what could be causing this...

Over those same years, Sugar consumption has gone through the roof. Carbohydrate consumption among both genders has increased, more so among women than men. Why ? Because, fat has been replaced with Sugar in order to sell foods. Studies have shown that "low-fat" and "no-fat" sells food...Further, 1/3 of shoppers indicated that they believe that anything marked "low-fat" is good for you.

Scary, isn't it ??? How can anyone continue to push the idea that fat not carbs is the culprit when the facts clearly show that fat consumption has decreased, while carb consumption, obesity, diabetes, and heart disease have increased ??? It baffles the mind that seeing data showing that fat consumption has decreased, and carbs have increased, while at the same time obesity hasincreased...that the government could continue to push a low-fat/hi-carb diet.

In addition, the graphs tend to show that caloric intake has not varied more than a few hundred calories over the last 10 years. In addition, it shows that fat and calories intake in 1965 was actually higher than it is now, whiel carb intake was much lower. Yet, at that time...obesity, diabetes, and heart disease were far less prevelant.

With all this scientific evidence...why does the government continue to tell us to eat less fat and more carbs ??? Could it be that the food industry makes alot of money selling fake carbohydrate-laden foods ???

It's such a no-brainer. I think the general public will catch on before the nutritionists, diabetes experts, AMA, and AHA...oh yeah and Ornish.
